Project: Holiday Inn Express Freeway Pole Sign, Project 23-2267-SIGN Address: 5606 Carpinteria Avenue Applicant: John Iadipaolo, Artistic Sign Group, for HMBL, LLC, Owner Planner: Brian Banks Request of John Iadipaolo, Artistic Sign Group, for HMBL, LLC to consider Project 23-2267-SIGN for Preliminary review of a request to replace the existing freeway pole sign for the Holiday Inn Express and Suites located at 5606 Carpinteria Avenue. The proposed project would remove the existing approximately 21-foot-tall pole sign along the Highway 101 frontage, and replace it with an approximately 25-foot-tall pole sign in the same location. The existing sign is approximately 97 square feet in area, and the replacement sign would be reduced to approximately 51 square feet in area. The existing stone base and steel column supports would be reused. The replacement sign requires approval of a modification to exceed the CMC sign ordinance maximum height of 20 feet. The 2.38-acre project site is zoned Commercial Planned Development (DPD) with Visitor-serving Commercial (V) overlay shown as APN 001-070-009 and addressed as 5606 Carpinteria Avenue.
